Thin Film Centre Enhances Its Commercial Representation

The University of Paisley’s Thin Film Centre has contracted P&T Consulting Ltd to act as its sales representative in the commercial marketplace.

The Thin Film Centre provides a unique service for industry and academia in the development, characterisation and smaller scale production of existing and novel coating designs.

Coating techniques available include microwave, RF and DC magnetron sputtering and electron-beam evaporation. These lend themselves to the deposition of a broad range of materials and layer systems capable of modifying the optical, mechanical or electrical properties of the underlying substrate.

Characterisation may be performed using a wide variety of methods including UV-Vis-IR spectrophotometry, spectroscopic ellipsometry, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.

P&T Consulting Ltd was formed in December 2001 as a provider of Commercial and Technical Consultancy services to the European Optical Thin Film Community. The Company’s directors, Mike Pybus and Len Traub have, between them, almost 50 years in this market having occupied a number of senior Commercial and Technical roles with OCLI Optical Coating Laboratory Ltd.

The Director of the Thin Film Centre, Prof. Frank Placido said, “We are excited about this collaboration and are confident that it will introduce the capabilities of the Thin Film Centre to a much wider number of potential customers”.
